Hi Techies

We have just noticed that the gas bottle on our swift is visable.

So clearly the floor has disintergrated luckily the straps did their job.

Ho easy/ difficult is it to repair the floor?

thanks

Without knowing the construction details and what has failed, I cant answer your main question, but I must add that from a safety point of view, the job must be done properly. It would be considered a dangerous load if the gas bottle is liable to be released from the caravan when travelling.

So do make sure the repair is professionally completed.

Hi Smiley,
Sorry to hear that.
I am not familiar with the construction but If one part of the flooring has failed I think you would do well to examine all of the flooring throughout the whole caravan.

Gas bottle lockers are notorious for the flimsiness of their flooring - often not much more than some pressed cardboard. OK when it is dry and there is something stronger beneath, (for example where the A frme runs) but not when wet. Do check the flooring in the van itself, but it is unlikely that the feeble flooring is fitted anywhere but that locker. I would try reinforcing to bridge across the A frame, then lightish waterproof ply as a floor - you may be able to use the old flooring as a template. Difficult, fiddly place to work in, though.
