can anyone recommend an overnight stop enroute to the vendee from calais we not crossing until 4.30 in the afternoon so don't want to head to far down as we have a long drive to get to dover. We were going to stop in an aria but after reading this forum I'm now very nervous of this idea as we have 2 children as do the friends we are travelling with.

Hi we did the dover-calais and down to southern brittany 2yrs ago at the time we stayed at a service area in the caen area very busy and great to stay at, we also had a similar crossing but as we had so far to travel the following day decided to get a bit of distance whilst the kids where sleeping, parked at about 12, and up again following morning to continue journey at the time this was our first time to france tracy ~

Helen, Try the Caravan Club Book on sites in France. We book sites every year for overnight stops when we travel, same as you we do not trust Aires! When you select a site most have websites and e-mail addresses which will enable you to book before you leave. If you don't have the book and you would like me to look a site up for you then let me know how far down you wish to travel (name of town) and I will send you the website and e-mail address of sites close by. My e-mail is Geoffpotblack@aol.com
