Hello all

I am looking for a good overnight halt on way from north Scotland to Cornwall, just off M5, maybe around the Cheltenham area but open to suggestions. Anyone have some good recommendations?

thanks

Caravan Club sites at Tewkesbury or a bit further down at Cadeside or Minnows. All close to the M5. Minnows is a cheapo no facility except EHU and Minnows backs on to a canal.

I would agree with Lord B's recommendation for the Caravan Club's Tewkesbury site. We have used it a few times in the past when travelling from Central Scotland to the West Country. I found that getting the biggest "half" of the journey done on the first day, getting south of Birmingham, before stopping ,gave the impression of an easier second leg.
It has been some time since we last stopped there and I'm fairly sure that I read somewhere that due to problems with local youths a security gate was in place at main entrance/exit which limited early departures. Don't know how accurate that info is or whether it is still the same but otherewise a very handily located site, only about 10 minutes drive from the motorway, and a few minutes walking distance into the town centre.

I can't help you with that Rob. I've never actually stayed there because it's a bit close to home.

We have stopped at Tewekesbury Abbey for about the last 5 years on the way back from Cornwall, it is very handy for walking into town. there is a security gate, but it has always been open before we have attempted to leave. A phone call to the warden will tell you what time it is opened.

Improvements at Minnows Caravan ParkPublished: 22 February 2010

As part of a programme of improvements for the 2010 season at Minnows Caravan Park, 14 additional hard standing overnight pitches are being created in the "Meadow" area of the park.
These additional pitches will enable the site to better meet demand during the busy summer months. The "Meadow" is a pleasant landscaped area screened from the A361 by a wooded area and grass banks. Improvements to the children's play area and to drainage are also in hand. It is expected that the work will be complete by Easter 2010.
I thought about stopping here myself on a trip to cornwall
