Overtaking camera for europe

Hi all,
When driving on the right (in a RHD car) last year I found overtaking to be difficult/risky due to restricted forward view.
I am thinking of mounting a camera on the LH side of the roof rack of my car that points forwards, connected to a monitor mounted somewhere on the dashboard. The theory is that this will give me a view as if I was driving a LHD car.
Has anyone out there tried anything similar and if so what type of camera/monitor did you use.
Thanks,
Trevor

PS: I won't have a passenger to ride shotgun for me !

I have never seen a camera mounted like this, ever, and would strongly advise against it. Thousands of drivers cross to the continent every day and do not have a problem,if you just hang back a bit it is very easy to see enough ,French roads are in the main much straighter than ours and quieter so there is no problem even wiyh a caravan.

Why?
Cameras are available which work under water.
The only down side is the camera will be less effective when exposed to light, rain, and in the dark.
F1 cars are fitted with them.
I would suggest mounting the camera inside the car, inside the area cleaned by the wipers, a sun hood will sort out some of the sun problems.

Many EU countries have strange quirks regarding road regulations and a camera as such may be illegal. Best to check with AA but I certainly would not consider one. It is only dangerous if you are tailgating and then want to overtake and pull out.

Thanks Damien and apologies for overstepping.
