Hi

Has your pet ever required urgent treatment whilst you are staying on site.

This happened to us last year staying at Clumber park our 10 night stop was reduced to 2 nights, whilst Taking our Kerry out for her early morning run through the park(6am)ran round a corner chasing rabbits next minite horrendous scream and silence, seconds later she came back badly limping with blood on her mouth. We managed to find a vet by looking in the info section supplied on site.Wildbore at Worksop very good vets emergancy app no problem.

Eric advised this site under General for Winter check list

www.caravanning4u.co.uk

various headings appear click onto (caravan uk) under dogs information click onto Find a vet near you.

Just enter the post code or nearest town and you will get a list of the vets in the area complete with full address and telephone number, you can also click on to the site location which comes up with a multimap giving you the exact location.

This is something that I will use before I set out on our many travels. You never Know!!

It took 3 months for our Kerry to fully recover ,Thankfully no serious internal injures Badly bruised front legs and spine .

we went back to clumber this year stayed another 10 nights but this time our kerry was restricted to a 5 metre lead whilst in the woods.

We had to have urgent treatment for an old dog we had a few years ago.

This happened when we travelling up to Scotland, for some reason he took very ill enroute, sickness and diarrhoa. We were overnighting at Blair Drummond, then CC site. The wardens were marvellous and gave us the name and address of the local vet who gave us an emergency appointment.

The vet was excellent, did various blood tests, and advised us not to travel any further until he had recovered sufficiently. This took three days, we later discovered he had picked up a serious bug, and with his age, was rather touch and go.

Unfortunately, when we returned home three weeks later, he suffered a relapse and as he had numerous other long term problems, we had to have him put to sleep.

Needless to say, we still use the Blair Drummond site for our overnight stop, knowing there's a good vet nearby if needed. :O)

Bridget the fat whippet is a) clumsy & b) unlucky as a result of which we are often asked on our return from hols how the vets were in whichever area we visited. We too ended up at the vets in Worksop after an unprovoked attack from a fellow canine resident on the Clumber Park site which resulted in more staples than your average office.

On the Isle of Wight and indeed in Powburn Northumberland her fine display of doggy gymnastics on the beach resulted in severe ear infections on account of them being full of sand.

The wardens and info sheets at the CC sites have always been really helpful and on all occasions we've managed to be seen the same day that we called with no fuss......which is often more than can be said for folks who need to see their GP's these day. Although it does add considerably to the cost of the holiday!

For future reference she will be easily recognised on the beach in her head scarf and ear mufflers.

We have an external shower attachment LSWOF, when we have our daughters Spaniels with us it becomes the vans best accessory. We ended up with the awning and van looking more like a beach in the past ;-0

Euro,

That would have been positive luxury on the infamous trip to Ferry Meadows when Bridget decided that "eau de goose poo" was the very latest in whippet perfumery!

The Spaniels go for the Eau de Chevaux as 1st choice, wriggling on their backs legs in the air with great glee!

I look a right plumb blow drying them in the Awning as they take hours to dry and could find dank smelly water in the Sahara!
