Please advise: SAS Blade stabiliser spigot "popping" problem

Hi,

I purchased a blade anti-snake stabiliser from S.A.S. for my caravan & car, followed the manufacturers instructions for fitting and adjusting, including use of bathroom scales for getting the pressure correct, but continually have the problem where the "Spigot" (I think that's what it's called) pops-up from it's "locked down" pressure applied position to the upright "pressure-released" position not long after setting off.

Can anyone suggest what I need to do to rectify this?

thank you.

hi byte

it sounds like you have not got the adjustment right as johnG suggests when it is locked down in the operating posiion it cannot come loose as the locking cam as a flat spot or spigot to stop it. the adjustments should be made via the btm nut with the spigot completely locked down.

colin.

as an after thought make sure you are turning the lockdown spigot the correct way as the wrong way will not actually lock it in position.

Hi Watson (JohnG) and colin- yorkshire;

Thank you both for your responses.

From what you're saying I think it may be that I'm "folding" the cam the wrong way - as I assumed that you'd fold it over so that it follows the curved part of the cam, but I'm wondering now whether it should be folded the other way - it certainly wouldn't pop back up without intervention then.

We're setting out today, so I'll spend some time experimenting before hand.

thank you both.
