Hi folks I thought sad person that I am I would update anyone who might be interested as to how I am getting on.All was going well until last week when the site of the operation became infected (with what is awaited from microbiology lab) so I was put on antibiotics which were quickly doubled in strength and no doubt will be changed when the nature of the infection is identified.

I saw the surgeon on Manday who is taking it very seriously because if the infection gets into where the repair mesh is he will have to operate to remove it which will result in the return of the hernias, which will put me back beyond the start point.

Jeez Plotts, hope all goes well. Perhaps you had an allergic reaction to the sutures, if so penicillin should clear it up.

Emmo is off to Jersey today, the lucky ******. I shouldn't have told you that I suppose because it's cheering up you need not being jealous of Emmo ;O)

Plotter - if I've told you once, I've told you a thousand times - THINK POSITIVE. Serious now I hope that all will be well far before Easter and that the infection clears up very soon. All the best mate.

Oh dear, bit of a setback Mr P - hope they find out quickly exactly what the infection is and can give you the appropriate antibiotics to deal with it. Sending you a (gentle! LOL) hug - keep us posted.

Plotts, Plotts

It's about receiving slobbering kisses from Staffords (SBT's).

They're not all dangerous you know, we deal in facts, not hypothetical rubbish. LOL!

The district nurse has just been and advised that the microbiology lab results show no infection, good news, well maybe it sems its not that simple because when the swab was taken I had ben on antibiotics for a week so they could easily it seems be masking the infection. My antibiotics run out on Saturday so they will reswab midweek and se what that shows.Clearly something is not right or the wound to open up and to discharge large amounts of gunge (sorry if you are having dinner)

Time will tell I suppose.

My back was like that Plotts, infact the gunge was dead tissue. I had an infection and they cleaned it up and cauterised the four places after the anti-biotics didn't work. They told me I had a reaction/allergy to the sutures.

Fortunately, I'd already finished my chicken sandwich before I read that!!

Seriously, Mr P, I hope they find out what's wrong soon, clear it up and reseal the wound - you can't have any openings that shouldn't be there or the wine will be leaking out........!! ;-)

Sending more gentle hugs xx

This sounds to me like a ploy to attract a District Nurse! I bet she is one of those fine looking chapesses who ride bikes with wicker baskets on the front. Worth a bit of suffering to get one of those fiddling with you....
