Plug adaptor

Hi,

I'd like to run a freeview box with my telly. I only have one plug socket near to the aerial/tv stand.

Is there any reason why I couldn't use a two-into-one plug adaptor in my caravan?

Thanks

Hello Beej

What Roy say is true, but even if you did over load a socket, the wiring in the caravan is protected by miniature circuit breakers that will disconnect the current in the event of an over load.

so no worries here

In our Award Nightstar the rear TV point is wired on the van nearside but we wanted it on the offside

I fitted a double surface socket box on the offside and ran a suitable 3 core flex cable through the rear wall cupboard to the existing 13amp socket and teminated it with a 13amp plug

I can then plug it into the existing 13 amp socket and use it off 230 volt or I can plug it into an inverter and use the TV point 12V socket as a supply

This means that I can use the TV and digi box off either the 230V when on mains or 12V via the inverter if the 230V mains is not available or subject to breaks in supply.

Hi all,

Many thanks for your replies. The freeview box I ordered will run off the 12 volt as well as the mains (it's a Roadstar one) so I've bought the 12v plug adaptor for two - I'll now just go out and buy a mains plug adaptor - brill. Thanks
