Porth Beach

We have booked Porth Beach for the Run To The Sun weekend in May. Normally stay at Hendra but fancied trying this one as it's so close to beach.

Would welcome any feedback. We are two families with 2 young kids per van.

We've not been there but looked at it recently also Hendra but eventually settled for Watergate bay. What's Hendra like.

Hi Pat

We think Hendra is excellent for a large site. Decent size pitches, absolutely everything on site in the way of pools, restaurants, bars etc.

The pool is really good with 3 slides including one with inflatable tubes. Not included in price of pitch, about a tenner for a family.

Overall the site and the toilets/showers nice and clean. Got a bit irrated last time because we were 3 vans together and they made us take down the awning and move the van because we'd pitched to suit us, rather than to their instructions. They had a 'rules is rules' attitude but didn't spoil weekend.

Also, site is high up so can be windy.

We went to Hendra in 1977 yes 1977 when we were young and carefree, we borrowed the father-in-law's trailer tent had fantastic fortnight saw the Grumbleweeds their for them that are old enough to remember them.

Looked at going back this year to recall our youth, soon decided not to have you seen the price, no thank you will stay with 1977 memories.

Still looks a great site if you can afford it.

weve used this site loads of times, its a very different site during "run to the sun"

Normally they are strict about ball games, no single units etc but during this time its a bit of a free for all!

Not as much to do on site as Hendra but if the weather is good the location is perfect, you can walk along the cliffe path to newquay in about 20mins too.

let your hair down and go with the flow!!
