Powrtouch M/Mover automatic maintenance

Strangely the bit of kit that I thought I'd use on every trip I hardly ever use and in fact cant remember the last time I used it as I always manage to manoeuvre onto the pitch and as the van is so light I manually fine tune our postion.
However 'Sodslaw' dictates that when the time does come when I need to use it I'll have a problem with it so I'm wondering that while I've got time on my hands is there any general maintenance that needs doing to it or is it very much a sealed unit and leave well alone?

I have been the same as yourself, very rarely use the MM, but last year found it was getting slightly harder to engage onto the tyre, Manual unit. I did read instruction manual and cleaned the slider area with Motorcycle chain Cleaner, then spray rubbed with Motorcycle chain Lube, it now engages much easier.

Have the Auto model which is used regularly when arriving home or going away as I need to shunt about and turn caravan around on outer drive. I do a couple of times a year give the sliding parts a spray of White Grease which keeps them moving free.

Thanks guys. Agree that its always good to use it now and again to prevent moving parts seizing up even if its just using the MM on my storeage pitch occasionally. Sounds like the sliding cpmponents could do with a little attention / white grease and I have a few tins of motorcycle chain cleaner / lube.
So, are the grey plastic covers fairly easy to remove?

I have a client who has the the manual powertouch unit and he has managed to snap the cotter pin on the offside transfer bar, twice !
He engages the system from the nearside. I believe this is because the cam and sliders were not greased on previous services( by the dealer) , Now out of warranty I was asked to investigate and I determined the RH unit cam and sliders were very stiff, and using white grease with ptfe much improved the action
