Can anyone tell me if it is normal for a loud buzzing noise to be heard when starting it up? On our previous vans we had the Truma fitted and it was relatively quiet compared to this system.
 
Hi Ann Yes that's the same as ours, buzzes prior to starting to move. I'm guessing the motor is engaging & it's something to do with the soft start exclusive to the Powrtouch.
 
This is the "soft start" facility doing its stuff. Should the unit subsequently click off and fail to do anything, the most likely cause (Powrwheel tell me) is a dodgy battery and they also tell me they have had more failure reports from vans fitted with 110 amp.hour batteries that those with 80 or 90, despite the apparent advantage of fitting 110AH units, particularly on a heavy van.

I understand that without soft start, the van can sit there and then move very suddenly, whereas with Powrtouch the movement is more gradual - just like me, really.
 
Contrary to popular myths Powertouch is not the only one with soft start. Rich Movers do as well and with this they say the noise is to warn of the van about to move, well its better to make something of what is probably a result of the soft start.
