Hello , we are about to use our caravan for the last time this year and want to get it prepared for the winter stand ! Once we have drained off everything and removed most items whats best to do next , we've read so many things and really dont know whats best

a, do you have your caravan hooked up all the time ??

b, do you have a dehumidifier on every day ??

c, do you the cyrstals work just as good ??

d, is it worth going in and putting the heating on every weekend ??

Your help & advice is much appreciated

Jemma, in order

a, its plugged in 24/7 at home

b, Never used one

c, Never used them

d, Never done that, but we do use it all through the year.

we have never had a problem with damp in any of our caravans, to date (touch wood) just either remove the seating or if you have no room to store just upend them to let the air circulate.

I think a lot depends on your van - how old it is, and whether it's already suffering from some damp. Our's is ten years old, but completely dry - and we just leave it alone in the winter. We don't have it hooked up. We don't use a dehumidifier or crystals, and we can't put the heating on because it's in storage. We have been out in it at New Year a couple of times, to avoid driving home after parties, but otherwise it's just left 'sleeping' from about November until March. In Spring it's just like it was when we left it. The cushions and mattress have always been fine, but cold to sit on at first until you've heated the van through for the first time.
