After umpteen attempts, I have finally managed to log in!!! Many thanks to Parksy for his patience, and to Lisa for her assistance as go-between.
I like to think that I am of average intelligence, so was the problem down to me, or is the proceedure just a tad complex?
Anyone else had problems?
Oh, and you tighten the elastic band, Parksy, it's running down a bit!
But, aside from those hiccups, it appears to be a big improvement on the old one.
Fingers crossed........

Better late than never, Emmerson, welcome back, lol. That Parksy's a good lad isn't he.....but don't tell him, his head will swell and, as he's not very tall, it might make it difficult for him to walk with such a big heavy lump on his shoulders, tee hee. Yes, the log in procedure is a bit complex, and the instructions are not in a position where people can easily see them.....I know they've now put it as a sticky as the first post in this section, but it's still not visible enough. Needs to be where people will see it immediately - if they don't know that the instructions are here, they're not going to know where to look!! (I did mention this before, as have others, I think).

I'm glad that you said that the heavy lump is on my shoulders Sue!
Repeat 100 times

I contacted Laura the very helpful Haymarket webtech who forwarded instructions to resolve Emmerson's difficulty so the credit goes to her, thanks Laura.
She also told me that the log in procedure is being tweaked soon to make things easier and the cloud server which provides resources for this website may be switched to the UK instead of the US.This should speed things up for our forum.

A cloud?

Think of it as the electricity company which supplies power to your home. Websites such as this are the meters in individual houses. The metered customers (us) buy power from the electricity company so we don't need to own our own grid.
Our 'cloud' will serve us better if it is based here.
Anybody remember the November 1965 Rolling Stones hit which could apply here?

Yes, Parksy, like you I'm old enough to remember "Hey, you, get offa my cloud" Good wasn't it?
Soozeeg, thanks for the welcome. I began to think I wasn't wanted on the new forum! I wen't away on a very rare holiday(!) and came back to chaos.
All sorted now though.
PS, why does it say "save", instead of "submit"? Confusing for the elderly!

Hi Reg and Pat,
Sorry you are finding it difficult to log in, we have tried to make it as simple as possible, i'm not really sure how we could make it any easier.

Hi to you all out there.I am a little puzzled by some of the difficulties that are being flagged-up here.I use Mozilla Firefox instead of the dreadfully slow Internet Explorer.Mozilla only allows Bookmarked locators for quick retrieval after logging out of any site.I use IE only for the first painful search(in order to find the site),then I create a Desktop Shortcut from the 'Right Click' options;close it down & then re-open in Mozilla(from the shortcut)and Sign In,I then choose 'the remember me on this site' option. Then next visit,Bingo in-in a flash. From logging out and on the Desk Top;at any chosen time,a double click on the short-cut to bring up the site, then click Sign In and Open the Forum;20seconds:- on the second sweep hand.
Oh,a clean clutter-free C drive (Disc Clean-Up and a regular De-Fragmentation) is like the Bananna Skin on the floor,Wheeeeeeeeee.
