Hi

Take delivery soon of a new caravan. Seats are a mixture of blocks of cream and a darker colour. How do others protect their caravan seats from damage by kids spilling drinks ? Is it possible to protect them with something like scotch guard?

Any advice appreciated. Many thanks in advance. Annette

Try drinking only water. When we're away we have fizzy rubbish once or twice a week, but other than that it's water only. Cheap, healthy, clean, not sticky.

we caravan with the dog and I cover EVERYTHING with throws and blankets...cover the floor with those clear plastic runner things and if there is mud/mess then at least that gets covered and not the upholstery.

Just cover everything up!

Hi Annette

I'd use throws if I were you, like Sarah suggested, Dunelm do a really good range of throws. I got some nice mats from Dunelm for the floor. Not sure if you can use a scotchguard type spray on caravan fabrics, I'd contact the manufacturer and make enquiries.

My cushions are cream and another colour too. I don't know how old your children are but would suggest using glass or pottery type drinking vessels as they are heavier than plastic and might be less inclined to be knoched over. Sit the children at a table if possible when they eat and drink, or failing that use a table in the awning.

When we had our other caravan we did allow our dog in it, no probs but now we have two dogs and a new caravan, they're not allowed in it. Even though I have a vaccum cleaner in the van, some dog hairs are hard to pick up.

Dunelm sell fabric cleaner in an aerosol, I always have that in the van in case of emergencies. It's usually me anyway who spills things, knocks things over rather than the husband, child or dogs!!.

Good luck

Lisa.

OMG Sarah and Katherine, you'll have the dog haters tut -tutting you for allowing your dogs on the seats now, hehheh!
Just because your ancestors allowed their dogs on their laps and sofas, doesn't mean you have to.

Sorry should have read 'as Katherine suggested'.

That's what happens when you're in a rush and do digest information properly!

Hi, i believe that some must already be scotch guarded from the factory, my mate spilled a huge glass of red wine in ours on our first night with the van, we were of course thrilled.

but after a frantic search for kitchen roll we merely wiped it and it left no marks which meant i didnt have to beat my mate to death.

Phew!
