Does anyone know if you can get replacement pull out awning bags? The ones that zip the awning in and fit in the awning rail. I caught mine on a low branch and while the actual awning is not damaged the zip bag is.20200618_162959 sml.jpg

How about trying a company that does canvas repairs or alterations for awnings. We used Specialised Canvas near chesterfield for an awning alteration. Very efficient.

I'll second that.

Obviously you'll need to remove the whole awning and it will need detaching from the damaged bag and sewing into a new one. As to whether the new one needs to be plastic is a mute point. Why not a good quality canvas. After all the roll out itself is plastic and damp will hardly destroy it even if the canvas allows some penetration.

I know I've found water in mine when using for the first time in a season and I am fairly certain it will have come though the bag rather than being rolled up wet.

it just depends how long it takes to repair also you might decide it might be cheaper to buy a new one that your choice you are going to have to make :)

Any chance you could make one saving the zip and the original for a pattern. Would it be possible to start with a length of awning skirt that will already have the channel rope attached? Perhaps 'Sewing Bee' on TV has gone to my head!!

If the torn edges will come together over all or most of the tear, you could try patching outside and in with good quality duct tape or similar tapes designed for fabric repair. I have done this on exactly the same type of awning which suffered from mouse chewing when off the van and in a loft.
Gorilla tape comes in black and other colours, also clear.
I used Fibrefix tape which claimed to be '100 times stronger than duct tape' and it lasted several years until I disposed of the awning.
