We are on the Delft Rally with C&CC on the day that Queen Beatrix has announced she will abdicate. Its a day the Dutch people celebrate anyway as her symbolic birthday,

As a caravan forum we try to avoid becoming embroiled in political debates which have absolutely no bearing on our hobby.
For that reason subsequent replies to Dave's post which were primarily concerned with pro or anti royalist sentiment rather than his trip to the Delft Rally have been removed from the message board.

Surely the post should be moved to Chit chat as it revolves around the queen giving up the throne rather than the rally?
Agreed Surfer.
Sorry Parksy, the ever upward spiralling cost of UK caravanning and living costs makes any needless expenditure relevent to our hobby.

In the American CNN Business 360 report it is estimated that the net value to the UK economy of the Monarchy is greater than £4bn which knocks Republics costs of £300-400m into a cocked hat. Beats having a president any day, and he/she wouldn't come free.

I'm glad I thought of that!

Well said Surfer, I ought to have moved the topic earlier.
As for the Monarchy. and it's relevance to touring caravans, there will probably be a wide spectrum of opinion on that matter but past experience has taught us that political debates about emotive subject matter puts those of us who are interested in touring caravans off using the forum.
Politics and related topics which have nothing to do with caravanning have no platform here on this forum.

I hate this kind of thing . The Royal's have no place in my hobby!!!!

However for reasons unbeknown to me Prince Philip is the Honorary Patron of CC. What does he contribute other than the NAME

Forgetting politics. Duchy, Royal Parks and other land that we actually own would make some very nice caravan and camping sites and open up tens of thousands of acres to the owner tax payers. Royalty branding has a value in other countries such as France and they did nasty things to theirs. Reports such as CNN's are complete BS as there is a vast difference between branding and actual bodies.

How HRH PP could ever contribute to CC is a mystery to me like Dusty. No doubt some CC execs and management get to shake hands.

Chit-chat
For non-caravan issues: jokes, trivia, gossip.

Now I'm confused

No need for confusion Brum. The plain and simple fact is that whenever political debates, arguments or whatever have been introduced to this caravan forum the end result has invariably meant that offence was caused or taken, forum members stopped using this forum and I had to sit here alone at my computer away from the comfort of my lounge and tv trying to sort out the mess whilst being insulted and abused for my trouble.

The bottom line is that I'm no longer prepared to do that, it's easier to delete the political rubbish without further ado as soon as it appears, not allow any more similar material to appear on this caravan forum and spend time with my o/h.

Good point, well made.

It's good to have such a well moderated forum...This reply is not meant as a wind up,(as was my earlier one).

Thanks Brum.
You wouldn't believe the amount of time I used to spend contacting various people and answering points that were made to me via email.
I'd have to email the person who had caused a problem, as often as not they would argue the toss so I had to spend more time with emails trying to persuade them to behave themselves.
Then I'd have to contact the ones who'd been upset and who had vowed never to use the forum again, to try to persuade them to change their mind.
I'd also have to carry on an often lengthy and detailed email dialogue with various people who were intent on trying to let me know what I should or shouldn't allow.
All of this would take up so much time that if I'd been married I'd be divorced by now

Get the o/h to buy you a laptop for your b/day then you can sit with her all day!

She is a very tolerant soul, but me typing all evening while she was trying to watch tv or worse still, taking a laptop away with us in the caravan would test her patience to the limit I fear

Why type when you could swype
smiley-wink.gif

No need for PC or Laptop these days or winding up the oh with the annoying tip tapping of a keyboard.

Surely typing on the laptop is quieter than listening to you gurgling back the beers and then bleching!

The only time that I gurgle back the beer is when I visit the pub once a week unless we're away in the caravan Surfer, I rarely drink anything other than an occasional cup of tea at home.
