Hi,

Just a thought. There are plenty of experienced vanners out there. How about encouraging P.C to organise a Spring rally where experienced vanners could be on hand to give practical advice.e.g How to put up an awning, how to reverse, etc etc. I'm sure you could think of other useful things to pass on whilst whiling away the time with people less experienced and in need of some TLC.

Hi Pat

The rally sounds like a good idea , but as for the reversing side of it I booked a course with the Caravan Club at a location near to me.

This proved to be really worthwhile as at the end of the Two day course we were awarded a certificate, this also helps with your caravan insurance.

Regards ob.

Practical Caravan magazine held a UK rally a couple of months back at Billing Aquadrome but I haven't seen any reports or follow up articles about it so I don't know if they have any planned for the future.

Why not join your local d.a. or the CC equivalent and attend one of the weekend rallies where I'm sure that more experienced caravanners will help.

The rallies are a very inexpensive way to get more use from your caravan and to meet like minded people.

Hi Parksey,

Sorry for the misunderstanding but my posting was intended for newbies(I've been caravanning for more than 25 years).I know how daunting it can be the first few times. However your advice is spot on regarding rallies.

My son in law is towing long distance tomorrow for the first time but my daughter says that they feel confident because we will be towing with them.

If there are any newbies down in Lady's mile in Dawlish look out for a Coachman Amara 520/4 towed by a Hyundai Santa Fe. Come and say hello.

You could teach me and many others one or two things Pat, I hadn't realised that your a 25 year veteran.

I found the local rallies very inexpensive, friendly and informative and found out about solar panel charging recently from my fellow ralliers.

Most owners club rallies, and indeed as members of CCC CC owners club TCC and ACCEO all of those listed below will always have people on hand to offer advice. Also as a late starter (didn't go in a caravan until I was 6 months old) I have found there is always something new to learn.
