Hi,
I know these have been discussed before but as I have finally got mine sorted out I thought I would share some pics as they might show how (or how not) to do so !
Apologies for length of post but I feel some explanation is needed.
I was loathe to drill the back of the van as I didn't want to cause any problems with water ingress warranty so originally I mounted the camera inside the van looking out the back window but found a)I got stray reflections, b)The black windows caused the colours to change on the picture, and c)The night vision LED's on the camera reflected off the window and 'blinded' the camera.
My solution has been to sandwich the camera mount between two pieces of plastic card and then using very strong adhesive tape 'glue' the mount to the back of the van (it has just been on an 800 mile round trip and hasn't moved at all) - the cables go through the back window (I found that I could close the window without straining it as the rubber seal was sufficiently thick to accept the cable compressing it), the camera cables pug into a four core cable that then goes down through a floor vent and is then cable gripped to the main electric cable for the length of the van - I have used a normal 7 pin connecter to bridge the gap to the car.
Inside the car the cables run to the monitor under the sill plates - I am intending to resite the monitor on the dash on the nearside so that I can see mirror and camera at the same time.
Overall it has worked out fine, as when I overtake I can see that I am clear to pull in even before a helpful truck driver flashes me - the monitor also has a second camera linked to it that allows me to see the towball so that hitching up is also easy !
PS The picture quality on the monitor is much better than it appears in the pic !
