Reich Motor Mover -- Help!

I have brought my new (to me) van home today and it has a Reich motor mover installed and I cant find any instruction leaflet for it. The remote has a new battery so thats okay, I have swithed the battery on so I presume that it is powering the mover. I had a look at the control box and that appears to be wired okay, but it`s not working.

Do I have to manually wind the rollers in to meet the tyres or does it do that automatically? Its only a two year old van and the mover looks pretty new. I know it must be something simple but I am stumped. Any advice appreciated.

I am not fully familiar with Reich, but as they all have similar things in common lets go through the normal operating setup.

First, is the main van battery fully charged? if yes, then have you switched the mover isolating switch on? usually located in either the battery box or nearby other locker.

Then,have you pressed the red button on the handset twice in quick succession to switch the mover on?

It should not make any difference whether the rollers are engaged or not to see if the mover is working.

If none of this works, then from the isolating switch there should be an inline fuse, is this ok?

The mover should be wired directly to the battery and not through the normal control panel.

As far as engaging the rollers, depends what type of mover it is, whether manually engaged or driven rollers.

The Reich needs to be synchronised, controller to reciever, maybe this needs redoing as the battery has been changed. Or "reset"

Both these are easy but I am thousands of miles from my van so cant tell you how to do it but this might seed somebody to look it up for you.

I think there are two types of Reich - we have the 'comfort' model which you engage onto the wheels from either side by using your steady winder or a powerful cordless drill. The other is engaged separately from each side by moving a catch. You also have to switch on the 'van electric on the unit in the caravan - this will be a red handle in a socket and ours is in the battery box.

We then press the bottom button on the handset, for some reason, we have to press ours twice, very quickly, then the hand unit has a red light which shows its working. Then use the buttons and hopefully, off you go.

hello is your mover fitted to the front of the axle or is fitted behind. we have ours fitted to the front and seems quite low?

Hi Darren,

Most single axle van movers are fitted to the front of the axle.

Darren,

my Reich is front fitted toa Bailey S5 Pageant. It has caused no problems on road humps, or ferries/rough fields. Also it means that I can still use the Alko side lift jack and have a rear mounted spare wheel carrier. The Reich has caused no problems with the Bulldog Titan od QD44 wheel locks.
