Hi all, I am a proud owner of an old Adria Optima, that is currently being refurbished.
I love it but I know nothing useful regarding light fittings and I need help please

I have a main interior strip light that I would like to replace with a nicer light fitting - I haven't seen many I like really on the usual websites but I just want advice on what to fit also how to go about it.

Would it be possible to fit a "normal" light style fitting, and get it converted to work? I was hoping for something different to than those usual caravan ones I have seen.

Have attached my caravan goal picture for reference :p

Thanks everyone xx

Search under LED caravan lights. Yes you could use a domestic fitting with an LED 12 volt bulb. But would need sufficient diy skills to make it work. But the will add weight.

Loads of choice Here and much nicer and cheaper than they used to be.

From your statement “old Adria Optima, that is currently being refurbished”. I did not expect what looks like a great quality van.

Haha - unfortunately that is my “goal” picture - I’m not the owner of that van in the picture!
the light 💡is what I love though and want to install in place of my strip light

I too have an elderly caravan which is my pride and joy. Recently I started to remove the old fluorescent light fittings but I fancied something that would match the interior woodwork. I couldn't find anything in the shops, so I decided to make my own using some downlighter inserts I found on ebay. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/373426132309?_trkparms=ispr%3D5&hash=item56f1ee9555:g:ER4AAOSwLLhfNR
I wired in two switches so that I could use either one centre light, or the two outer ones, or all three together. So far, I have one fitting up and running. There are two more still to do.

It’s above the fixed bed, nose end, to the side - there is no awning this side so I think it might be a rail? 24 on the damp meter - pics attached / only
Two as it keeps saying my file is too large xx story of my life 🤣🤣🤣

Yes! It looks like the joint between the roof and the side wall. It might dry out if the rail was removed and resealed. It really depends on how long it's been leaking. If the inner wallboard is soft and spongy, it will need replacing.

It’s not soft or spongy …yet lol xxx
I have found the caravan man on you tube and he replaces a seal so I think I will try that - I’ve also read about amazing thick waterproof tape stuff - can’t think of name as I’m rubbish 🤣🤣

Also the ceiling and surrounding area all gave readings of less than 10 on the damp meter xx

Rooflock, or Eternabond are two tapes and there’s videos on YouTube showing applications.

Thank you so much - I have found the caravanman on you tube and he has a tutorial so I might try the clean and replace first and then the tape if not ☺️ Thanks for replying
