Rivendale is your average touring caravan site, friendly (because it pays to be)and as Andy says, has the bar combined restaurant. There is one peculiarity to it though, that is worth mentioning and touched upon by Andy. The site is located in an old disused quarry, this being part of its charm and of its Achilles heel for some. When the brochure says it is hard standing, that's exactly what you get, rock hard. Some will accept rock pegs for your awning and there are grass pitches available but be aware this is a hard place in more than one way. The route around the camp site is littered with large boulders and the edges are constructed of stone. Be very carefully when you drive round, do not cut any corners, or they will cut you.
Getting there can be hard too, I haven't tried coming in from the West but there are no obvious routes from the East if you have a particularly wide and/or long outfit. It may be an idea to stick to main roads and go through the towns en route, than try to avoid them using the smaller roads.
After all that, I must admit, it's worthwhile staying there, the change in scenery compared to some sites is worth the effort.
