Hi Barney,

Answered in the original thread - lots of info from my commute last week - and the postings move around as people reply.

you miss understood me, thats the main reason we are going. all i was saying was i cannot drink strong lager, like leffe, if i drink lager its carling carsberg etc, to tell you the truth i'm more of a real ale drinker, bitters and stouts, and i love going on brewery tours (jennings, black sheep, theakstons) you say 17 euros for mussells and chips, thats over a tenner, but i'll be trying the roast beef and fryed egg sarnie, you don't happen to know of any realy posh restaurants in or around gent so as to take the wife on the 18th for her birthday? or i suppose the campsite should know of somewhere, the palm beer sound good and where could i buy a belgium map so late on (as we go tomorrow) will they sell them on the ferry do you think? are the fuel prices cheaper at supermarkets like in france? we are hoping to see ypres war graves when we are there, i suppose there will be a bundle of information leaflets at blaarmeersen of things to do and see and guided tours etc, right got to go and help the wife pack up the van, catch you later, regards barney

Barney having been a frequent visitor to Belgium I've followed you threads re your visit, the fuel stop Rob advises on is the one where I'm sure we bought new Michelin maps earlier this year.

If it the one I'm thinking of it has a a shop at either end of the pumps.

The prices were no worse than here and If you stope a Hypermarket when you land I think most have a good selection of maps.

Hi,

The Total motorway fuel station has a shop with a good selection of maps, both town plans and overall country maps.

I wouldn't buy on the boat - the best you are likely to get is a Benelux map - and no local information.
