So some out there are worried about getting robbed at the roadside whilst you can be robbed by you mobile phone!
Sorry if anyone has covered this before!
At LeMans and before I've got some text messages about some DRAW starting, some drivel that I've had for a few weeks and have just deleted. I've never asked to be part of this DRAW thing or given the number to anyone and a friend has had the same thing.
He called me earler and asked me to check my Mobiles bill. My bill is large but a largish chunk has been taken up by text messages sent from an "origin shortcode" number 81819 and charged to me AT £1.27 PER TEXT.
First call to the customer service was useless, I called sales and complained and was put through to a more senior very very pleasant and helpful Customer Service manager who said that all Mobile Providers have this problem and have no way of stopping it at present! She advised to send STOP to the 81819 number and has made note to have the numbers operators "looked into" and credited my bill with the charged ammount rather than lose my account.
I suggest that you all check your bills and I guess if you have a pay as you go sim and get these messages you may have someone else eating up your credit!
I told my provider that I would cancel my direct debit and they could take me to court for what I owe if they can not do anything about this outrage, much the same as my friend has done.
The nice Mobile operators including one with record debts will be well chuffed to have to fight for money that we have not asked to spend.
Check your bills and check out what messages from "short code" numbers may be costing you.
