Hi all,

we noticed at the weekend that we had evidence of mice having been in the van (I suppose they have to have a holiday as well !). Evidence was mouse droppings in the ground level lockers, no evidence of chewed wires or bedding.

Obviously I am a bit concerned. I am sure they must be getting in throught the floor while it is in storage. Being a newcommer to caravaning I am not sure how much to block up all the holes, I am sure there should be some air flow etc.

Any advice would be appriciated, either about blocking up holes or about detering the mice. The holes arent huge and it isnt damage it just looks like the holes that are there to let pipes and wires in etc.

Kind Regards

John

John,

Don't block the hole you need then for ventilation in all cases. Would suggest you use chicken wire which will allow ventilation bet prevent your furry freinds entering the van and leaving a calling card.

Hi John

The best thing we have found to make sure rodents keep out of the van is the use of mothballs. Using 4 small mesh bags (used by tyour wife in the washing machine!) and putting 2 mothballs in each. Hang these from the corners of the van (inside) where the air vents are. They won't come back I can assure you. Cheap and easy!!!

you will need to use mesh with about a quarter inch hole, other wise juvenile mice will get through, hence the fine mesh on the gas drop holes in thew floor.
