We've just bought a 2001 Swift Charisma 235 for our trip to Spain for the winter (setting off shortly after New Year). Last year we went in our motorhome but found that we needed transport when we got there and it was tedious having to take the motorhome off site when we wanted to go anywhere. We've had Tyron bands fitted on the caravan because of the long journey and we've had a 'trial run' in the van to check everything works and to fit the awning. I just love heading off in winter in the van - its a real adventure and the sunshine (if we get any) is a bonus. One of the benefits of being retired... I'm sure we spend less too. We just put the central heating on 'frost guard' at home while we're away to protect water pipes etc and the savings on oil and keeping warm probably add up to the same as our site fees. Great fun.
