i recently bought a roof cover for my Avondale, when i fitted it i found that the securing bungi straps cross both the front windows and side windows, in fear of the windows getting scratched i covered the windows with shrink wrap (a kind of cling film) , my problem is a freind has suggested that the film could cause a reaction with the plastic of the windows and cause a worse problem, has anybody heard of this problem before

A better solution would be to use material such as old bed sheets to protect the windows from the straps.
As Parksy says as far as protecting your windows. I think I would either go for a full cover if wanted or not bother at all would be the safest way to avoid damage. You should certainly not use cling film because of the reactions and also there have been recent reports of stickers inside the van windows causing reactions as well
Poster is spot on, cling film / shrink wrap could very well cause further damage to the windows.
It's the same with all kinds of stickers like the annual service stickers on the front drawbar.
I've removed all mine carefully and applied them to the inside if the service book.
My opinion is that they are unsightly and can cause fading of the paintwork.
