Roof lights opening whilst travelling

Hi there

We are having a problem with our roof lights. We have only started caravaning this summer and the second time we took the van out the roof lights popped open during the tow home. We made sure they were closed before leaving the site.

The van is quite old but in good overall condition. We were driving on a busy trunk road and quite a lot of high sided lorries passed us. Could this have caused the problem or is there any way of locking the roof lights.

Any advice would be very helpful.

Thanks Mary & Mick

Mary & Mick,

We've had this before on our last 'van. It was a 15 yr old Sprite. We lost two roof lights that were closed. I recckon the springs in the catches get soft. The best bet is to replace the rroflights, They're not desparately expensive and could save some greif. The last one I lost I didn't notice and I parked up at the storage. I found out 2 weeks later and the 'Van was soaked inside.

All the best

hello m8

ive taped mine down, actually on the roof with transparent waterproof tape from halfords you cant see it either but i dont use the one above my bed we leave that closed all the time only a cheap but effective idea
