Run flat tyres

I'm new to caravanning and wondered if anyone uses run-flat tyres? I've read many peoples' concerns about tyre blow-outs and the use of tyre bands, are run-flat tyres suitable for this or aren't they made in suitable sizes yet?

I presume you mean run-flat tyres for a caravan, not for the car. To my knowledge there aren't any with adequate load carrying capacity for most caravans but maybe someone can put me right on this.

Is it not also the case that runflats are generally only made for larger wheel sizes? I guess if they were made for 13/14/15" wheels you could use them on a twin axle, but probably not a single axle for the reason Lutz says.
