Satellite Dish

Has anyone out there changed their Status 503 Aerial for a Pole fitted,Crank up Satellite Dish using the existing hole?
If so, which and what?
I find my Status 530 pretty useless !

……I would not go that route as it is best to remain flexible with where you can put you satellite dish so that you can obtain a clear line of sight to the satellite.
With a permanently fixed dish it could mean you have to move your caravan to clear an obstacle or even move pitch which may not be possible.
Most caravaners mount their dish on a tripod for this reason.

It had crossed my mind, but being an ex-Motorhomer I still think that way, as we never experienced any problems
with a roof mounted dish !!
I really must start thinking outside the box - difficult at 72 !!!!

I've always used a rotary clothes line - line removed Turn it upside down and it makes a very good sat stand.

My dish is mounted on an inverted 12" metal dog food dish purchased from Wilkinsons at a cost of £1.99. I have drilled 3 holes big enough to take awning pegs in the lip to allow it to be secured to the ground in case of wind. This makes it easy to secure and very stable even in high wind. For aiming its easy to pivot it about the lip to see whether you need to aim up or down and obviously the rotory adjustment is a simple turn of the dish (dog not satellite!) For further stability I re-inforced the base of the dish with a piece of MDF so it doesn't flex too much when you adjust the angle. The result is very low profile and avoids that 'Jodrel Bank' look when it has to be positioned in front of the caravan. I have the Maxview Semitronic fitted on the roof but carry a tripod and small dish just in case something is in the way of the roof one
So far in 5+ years its only been used once but you do need to pick a suitable pitch when possible as with all satellite systems
To answer the question I considered removing the pole mounted Status aerial and replacing it with the dish but the dish would have been too near the van side and would have protruded
This pic shows the dish just in front of the adjacent tree !!
