Hi
Did any one else find the first purchase scary? Finally saved enough for a static. How do u even go about buying a sited van. Everyone has a pushy sale pitch. What questions shall be askin. I really wanted a quiet place with little on site but local to amenities. I suffer with anxiety . I wanted a cosmetic project to do up . But do u find the site first? It's a huge decision when u first time with little knowledge. Thanks everyone for yr time

Hi Bubbles
This forum is primarily concerned with touring caravan and motorhome ownership, so it probably isn't the best place to come to for advice.
Have a look on Facebook for static caravan owners forums or perhaps Google 'Static Caravan Owners Clubs' to find other static owners who may be able to offer good advice based on their experiences.
Money Saving expert Martin Lewis offers financial advice to prospective static buyers
Good Luck

Caravan Talk forum has a statics section, try there for statics advice.

In the meantime, welcome to this forum.

Before you commit your hard earned dosh to a Static, have you thought about getting a large tourer and putting it on a seasonal pitch. You have almost all the advantages of a static but without the major disadvantage ( imho) of the hassle you get when you want to sell or move the static.
If towing is putting you off getting a tourer, then there are plenty of companies who will tow it to the site, you can even negotiate with the supplying dealer to do it.

All the best whatever you decide

There are several alarm bells ringing as far as the original posters message.
First of all you MUST do a lot of homework about the prospective purchase and the terms and conditions of the site , and I mean you MUST understand the Ts&Cs, not just browse them and hope for the best.

It would be very very unusual to find a "cosmetic project" of a static van, they do not exist as all old vans are either sold off and have to be removed from the site or they are scrapped.
Site owners do not want "project" vans on their sites.

You say you suffer with anxiety, in which case I strongly suggest that you use your hard saved money and use it for something else.
Static van ownership comes with a high level of anxiety from site rent prices, utility and gas prices, etc et etc.

Do NOT let your heart rule your head, it will end in tears !!!!!!

Personally I would not touch them. In most cases you get a ten year lease and can then be told to remove it when the lease is up. On one site we know you will then usually be offered a silly figure of around seven hundred pounds which you are stuck with, as you need a specialist contractor to remove it even if you can find someone to take it.
Even on sites that do not do this there is no guarantee they will not do this or increase the rent substantially.
Basically you have an asset costing tens of thousands, and you are almost completely in the hands of the site operators who can change. Far too much risk unless you are far more familiar with the sites and their systems.

Someone in our family brought a Static and paid a good price & rent paid and Gas Bottles included ..
So after some time had gone he was thinking of selling it
But read the small print (Because the site gets there fee and you the rest)
Like what (Damian says). Think what you are doing ..
