I have ben checking my aging abbey county somerset out and have noticed that the gaskets in the rear light clusters have all but totally gone! Can anyone advise ast to where I can get replacement Gaskets or a DIY option.

If this summer is like last years I feel it would be advisable to have the electrics as watertight as possible!

Many thanks in anticipation.

Doubtful whether you can still get replacement gaskets so I would go down the DIY route. I would use some sanitary silicone. Gun the silicone on the back of the lamp unit and screw the unit in place. However between the lamp and the van body, insert some spacers approximately 3mm thick. Screw up the lamps so that the spacers are gripped, then use a square scraper to remove the excess sealant. The sealer will cure and make a water-tight seal.

You might be better using the non-setting sealant that the caravan indistry uses around shower and sink drain outlets. It comes in a gun - costs a couple of quid or so - and you apply it liberally around the fitting. When screwed up there will be a water-tight seal but it can still be pulled apart easily if access is required as it neither sets hard nor sticks.

Hi 's'

A slight problem has been brought to my attention.

Your username 'S' is already in use on this forum.

I wonder if you would mind adapting it slightly to avoid confusion and to prevent mix up's between forum members?

Thanks
