This year we decided to try the seasonal pitch, we came on site end of March, and it as been the best decision we could have made. It,s taken all the hard work away, no setting up and unpitching each time we decide to go home. Its nice coming back after a few days at home, arriving and going straight into the caravan, kettle on in 2 minutes and feet up. If your considering a seasonal pitch give it a try you wont be disappointed.

Glad you are enjoying your pitch, we have thought about doing that but haven't found anywhere yet we want to keep going back to on a regular basis. Where are you?

Hello, Sorry took so long answer been in hospital but back in caravan now and ok. We are staying in north wales, just outside Rhyl, Kinmel Bay, the site is called Little Paddock. Its a nice quiet site, got toilet, showers and laundry room with a washing up sink in it. The owners are both lovely people and welcomed us on to their site right away. We like the surrounding area of north Wales. Conway, Colwyn By , Llandudno etc. You are within easy reach of Anglesey and can visit Caernarvon within an hour. Lots of good places to visit. You can look the site up online and have a look at it.

Myra,

Where abouts is your seasonal pitch?

cant say that i have found a place that i would like to return

to week after week , its touring and seeing something new that keeps me caravanning , i caravan all year as far south as Spain ,i am 65 years of age and have a blocked artery in the Heart , but i would rather rock n roll for 65 years than have a slow waltz till i am 80

have though about this but then again i bought a touring caravan so we could go and see different places.

life is journey and just a destination. I could not face going to the same place time and time again, but i suppose some like the "familiarity" of the same site which i can understand.

I'm with joby and philspadders on this one. The whole idea of us getting a caravan was to see different parts of the country.

If we wanted a regular site I think I would have gone down the road of buying a static which would mean we could get a more economical car rather than what we have. I must admit that the statics are lovely and do appeal to me but the place that it was sited would have to be somewhere special with spectacular views to make me choose that option but I don't think that's going to happen.

We are off again next month for what should have been a 4 week jaunt but have now decided to extend it to 5 weeks and go and see my sis-in-law at Boston.

At the moment the only problem I have is putting the awning pegs in. Having to stoop for that long doesn't do my long term back problem any good and the last time out I was laid up for 24 hours at Slinfold.

Each to their own though and maybe one day I will want an easier option when it gets a chore instead of a pleasure in touring.

Hope you are feeling better after your hospitisation Erica and are now on the mend.

Tourers are for TOURING, not sitting on one pitch for months on end. Every seasonal pitch taken is one less for us genuine tourers. As others have said, if you don't want to tour, get a static, or a house!! Grrr!!!

We have a seasonal pitch, but each year we move the caravan to another site and explore that area. Due to work commitments we are not able to go more than an hour and half from home, and often only for 1 or 2 nights. This way it lets us use the caravan more than we would if it was at home on the drive.

What happens when all the sites are taken up by seasonal vans? Where do us GENUINE touring caravanners go then?
Seasonal pitching should be banned! As I said before, get a static! That's what they're made for, and keep off my pitch!

The Caravan Club certainly offer a number of seasonal pitches usually autumn. They've never caused me any problem although until last year I couldn't understand who would want to stay at Freshwater East in Wales for 12 weeks?
Then I met a frail couple , one was recovering from a knee replacement. They loved touring and intended to cary on once the chaps knee had fully recovered. To them the seasonal pitch was a place to recouperate. Other than that situation it's not my bag.

For Lord B,I made an extended peg puller about 30" long so I wouldnt have to aggravate my knees bending to pull them out.Havent figured out how to put them in without bending yet, trying to train the eldest grandson at the moment
