Just returned from an excellent week at this site. It is a very peaceful site due to its valley location but is close to all the facilities of Brighton. The only slight moan would be that there is no file on decent pubs etc. in the information office on site. I usually rely on members comments to point out somewhere decent. When I asked about this in the office they said they had never had one. Pity. Still, the good Pub Guide served us well. George T.

Hi George - glad to hear you enjoyed the site. I've got a week booked there in October, and looking forward to it! Three questions you might answer:

1. What is access to site like (travelling from the north);

2. What is best way to get into Brighton during the evening;

3. Where are the good pubs - food and good ale.

Cheers

Hi John and George,

We held an EribaFest (rally) at Sheepcote Valley two years ago, and we ahd nothing but praise for the wardens and the site in generla - uniquely for a CC site - they had organised a separate area for the rally.

John: Follow the CC recommended route, from the A27 past the racecourse on the downs. It works and avoids the busy traffic in Brighton.

The best way to get into Brighton? Walk if you are in reasonable condition - about 20 to 30 minutes - or take a bus from almost outside the camp site.

Good Food? Lots of choices in the North Laines, and buy yourself a good beer guide.

Mini-Review from the Eriba owners site:

"We love Brighton as a mecca for vegetarians (Terre a Terre is one of the top veggie restaurants in the UK and priced accordingly), so finding a good campsite close enough to the centre that you can walk (20 - 30 minutes to the centre), or take a bus, but far enough out so that the nights are quiet is a real boon.

The site is open all year, friendly and efficient staff, and a mix of hardstanding pitches and some grass / hard-standing should suit all.

The site is to the usual caravan club standards, clean, well designed, good toilet blocks, plenty of hookups.

Brighton is a centre for alt. culture in the UK, so great for veggies and vegans, the North Laines for unusual shops, Brighton Pavillion, exploring the south coast and the Brighton Festival in the Summer."

Hi John, I don't think you'll regret the trip to Sheepcote. The directions are basically M25, M23, then the A23. Then follow the directions in the CC Handbook. They are flawless. If you aren't a member - join! The mag is decent and the Handbook is good. Plus you'll get your money back on a week's stay. The site is about half a mile from the Marina area. A large Asda, cheapish petrol (relatively speaking), restaurants and chain pubs like Weatherspoons. Brighton is more like a mile away. Taxis frequently drop off at the site but we did not use this service. There are a number of pubs such as the Basketmakers arms recommended in Brighton. (Good Pub Guide) Personally, I seek out the foodie pubs as I'm usually driving. On that basis I would heartily recommend the Queen's Head at Icklesham. Terrific if you are going over towards Rye. Huge portions, excellent food at reasonable prices. Have a great trip. Oh yes, if you drive in to Brighton, approach along the seafront and turn right at the Odeon cinema.Multi storeys are on the left. Best Wishes, George T.
