Having recelenty completed a lovely holiday in the French Ardeche, we experienced the French motorway peage.... by hitting the thing.... OUCH!!!
I can't keep blaming the misses for having short arms to reach for the ticket, I forgot about the Van on the back and moved in closer for her... Crunch. Got the van jammed in tight to the protective kurb line, could reverse up as every other ****** had followed us down the same peage lane. Managed to damage the lower awning rail 3ft plus, the bottom skirt bellow it and deeply grase the front fibreglass panel... did'nt crack it Phew.

Moral of the story is: Its cheaper to have the wifes arms stretched surgically or mechanically then having get a repair bill of £1200squid...
It has'nt put me off from driving in France, I just make her walk to the ticket machine now.

Ouch indeed. Easy done too. Came very close to doing exactly the same in Holland last year. Would have been very embarrassing turning up on a Reader Rally with a banana-shaped Bailey Ranger...

Hi,
If she takes her belt off, make sure she puts it back on again BEFORE you move.
I understand this is a nice little earner in Spain.

My friend did the same thing
My wife as I have mentioned before is disabled so I have to get out and run round the front of the car to get the ticket out of the machine
We did try a pick up tool but the risk of dropping the ticket outweighed the advantage
When we travel with our friends we stop at the machine and the passenger from the second vehicle runs along to get the ticket and passes it to us before getting their own
When we went with some other friends a few years ago we went through first and looking through the rear view mirror I could see an attempt being made to insert a credit card into the machine
Not a lot you can do to go back and help!!
