Total novice to caravanning, looked at ABI 2001 Manhatten 510. Is there anything I should know about these vans. Haven't heard much about this make of caravan. Any tips on buying our first caravan greatly received.

Steven, Ive had 2 ABI caravans over the years an old 1989 monza and a 200 brooklyn. They were both very good vans, well built.

ABI stopped building tourers in 2002 to consentrate on the static caravan market. Swift bought the floor plans for the brooklyn and called it the ace range I believe.

Is it from a dealer or private, if dealer get a damp check done by them and ask for a warrenty, if private do you know someone who knows a bit about caravans, take them along to look at all the bits and bobs which need checking out.

If its not damp (GET IT CHECKED) there is no reason why you shouldnt go for it. There are still alot of old ABIs around which goes to show they are good long term vans.

ABI are still doing spares for tourers but I doubt if they will make anythng, just what they got!!!

Hope this helps and good luck with your first van.
