any water proof mastic will do .the same stuff you would use in your house"
No it will not.
"Stuff" used in the house is not subjected to the vibration and flexing that happens in a caravan.

a good quality high modulus silicone sealant will work fine. Get it from any good diy store. Look for ones with a good temperature range and for use in damp conditions and preferably with a mould inhibitor. Do not use general mastic, acrylic or water based sealants as these will not last long.

Dont forget to thoroughly clean , degrease and dry the areas to be sealed.

i have not contradicted him. Damien has posted about an MS Polymer system that you may not be able to locate easily. I have not found it in my local dealers or my local diy shops.

I have have offered an alterntive that is easily available and that is any good high modulus silicone based system will work. I dont repair caravans for a living but have direct experience of sealants, uses and their suitablity in various conditions of use including some Defence work.
I specifiy the use of various sealants on Stainless Steels and Plastics in applications that are subjected to wide variations in temperature , flexure and humidity. Servce conditions that are far more extreme than any caravan.

If some else has a broad range of experience and knowledge that can be shared, it should be , or perhaps you dont agree.

Now now guy's.

Everbuild 363 silicone (mastik in the chicken shed trade)is by far a superior sealant. If it can withstand steam cleaning and chicken pecking plus their by-products for it's 30 year life expectancey, I'm certain it will seal a shower damed good.

The sealant stays plyable and has a very good adhesive interaction with metal, wood, Grp and all plastics. Also it doesn't go mouldy either.

Available in white, clear, grey and brown.

Potent stuff however, so make sure you have the vents and windows open or you'll be as high as a kite.

I sealed a roof leak in a Link 575 T/A that I had for 7 years and I never had to re-do it. The van was stored outside 24/7 all year for 7 years.
