Mark, we stayed at The Caravan Club's Skegness Sands site for a weekend a couple of years ago. The club only manage it and there are a lot of static caravans on the site. Its up to the usual club standards though and is right on the beach. As I remember there is a swimming pool as well.

Personally a weekend in Skegness is far too long for me!! Bainland Country Park abouth 30 miles in land from Skegness at Woodhall Spa is well worth a stay though.

Good luck, Martin.

This year I was in that area and went to check it out. The best description I can give is I felt as though I was in the middle of an Industrial Estate. I cant remember seeing a tree or any greenery. There was no feeling of openness at all, completely surrounded by caravans and mobile homes for miles. Although you were close to the sea you couldnt see it for the sea wall and a large office building that overlooked the site. It was by far the worse site I have seen whether private, CC or CCC. The CCC site further up the road is better, I think its at Sutton on Sea. Then again perhaps Ingoldmells suits some with kids because of the Theme Parks and closeness to the sea. I never went to the beach but from memory as a kid it wasn't sand but clay. I do remember catching crabs from The Point though, tying a shrimp to a length of string. Ive got a photo of myself in a caravan at Ingoldmells about 1955 and another of me at Aberystwyth about 1947 in an old converted double-decker bus.

Try Southview just outside Skeggy. It's not a Butlins type of site and to be honest there is more there for the adult than anything else. However I have seen dogs on the site which itself is usually immaculate. The web addy is bellow, so if your thinking of going check with them first about the dog situation (we haven't been there for a few years and things can change), and we would be quite happy to supply a fuller park description if you want one.

I hope the doctor gave you something for crabs.

Yes you are allowed to take dogs on this site.

Although the dog walk is poor can't really class it as a dog walk more like a dog toilet and not everyone cleans up on there as well after their dog.
