I'm a little confused, I'm in the process of buying and setting up sky for our caravan and need to know if I bought a second sky box for the van would my sky viewing card work from home? Some people say it does others say it won't. I would appreciate any feedback on this before I spend my hard earned cash on a box for the van. Many thanks, Craig.............

In our experience we found that when

we use a second unit in our van and use the card from home,

we cant get all the channels Sky sports & Movies, Sky have to set the box to the card, but most channels work.

Hope this helps

You can get BBC1,BBC2, ITV and a lot of news etc channels with no card at all but if you want to watch Sports or Movies then you need to get another card and pay a subscription

Craig,

I bought a used Sky Digibox off eBay to use in the caravan with my card from home.

We don't subscribe to movies or sports but I can get all other channels such as UK TV and Discovery Channel.

Hi Martin, thanks for your reply. Is it the basic package from sky you get which is about 21.50 ish and do you get the same channels in the second box as you get at home, also do you get c4 & c5, thanks.

I phoned Sky regarding this subject and was told that under the multi room it should never be removed!! i then argued that i pay for it so it doesnot matter where i watch it, i was then told that if i read the contract it must be connected to the same tel line as the main one, in the event that they do a call back test and they do-not get a kiss off both units they will send a engineer round at a cost to me to investigate the problem, a little long winded im sorry but i think we should think about this!!!!!!!!!1

you can use your sky card in a different box when away from home but you have to phone sky (number in system ) and register the card to the new box. when you return home you will have to do the same thing. just occasionally you may get a sky person who says you cannot do this ,but it is perfectly legal. they get confused about you being connected to a phone line as per first 12 month agreement.hope this helps.
