A couple of years ago, I bought a solar PIR light. It was called the 'Welcome' light and was promoted as being suitable for porches and the like. It had a solar panel built into the light unit and used a single LED for light.
Quite frankly, bought as an outdoor light it is absolutely hopeless - no good at all. However, I've found a cracking use for it: we use it in the washroom in our caravan. We have two small children, neither of whom can reach the lightswitch, so night-time visits to the toilet always had to be accompanied by either my wife or I. The Welcome light unit is so good as the light switches on and off automatically and it provides enough illumination for the bathroom without being too blinding.
During the day, I take the light into the main caravan so the solar panel can charge up. When I leave the caravan, I leave the light in the kitchen window area so if I need to go into the caravan in the evening, the light switches on as soon as I go in.
I've seen these particular lights in LIDL in the last week or so, on sale for £8.99 (I paid £24.99). Definately recommended for caravanners - snap one up.
