We have recently purchased a 2008 Swift Charsma 610 T/axle caravan,it has an inboard water pump fitted so there is a hose that goes from the aquaroll into the van (truma fitting on the van),we were wondering if we cun just buy the truma mains water kit from the likes of Towsure or would we need the mains kit for the aquaroll, would rather have the truma kit then we wouldnt need to take the aquaroll with us when we go to main serviced pitches thanks

Hello Geemo,

I do not know which pump is fitted to the swift, but if it is an internal type than they are usually a diaphragm or other wise known as a displacement pump. This type of pump does not like having water pushed through it such as from mains, so I would not recommend the mians kit for the caravan.

It is generally accepted that it is both safer to use the float valve in an water container, as this protects the caravan from flooding if f the mains pressure reducer fails and blows pipe joints and tanks. The only thing that happens is the water container overflows.

It also protects you from reduced pressure on sites where several caravans are using mains supplies as you have your own local reservoir in your water container,

It is also a feature with some mains kits that the water flow through the pressure reducer is not as good as with the caravans own pump.

Have fun
