Aboiut to set off to the Alicante and Murcia area. We've heard that much of the flood damage has been repaired but now getting reports of a plaque of mosquitos. Is anyone down there and able to comment. I understand that some are normal but, because of the amount of rain and the subsequent warm weather, the problem has got worse.

Yes! What you've heard is true - as far as anything is true that you read in the papers. One of the Spanish newspapers reported that tiger mosquito eggs could start hatching on the Costa Blanca after being laid in the muddy lagoons left after the heavy rain. The paper said that emergency crews were working hard to stop the mosquito larvae hatching.

The old advice given to those heading off in service of the Empire used to be to have a few stiff drinks before going to bed. This meant that, for the first half of the night one would be too drunk to feel the mosquitoes biting. In the second half of the night, as the effects of the drink were wearing off, the mosquitoes would be too drunk to bite.......

Yes, got the jungle formula, skin so soft and bottles of gin. Just don't fancy fighting the mosquitos off. Probably leave going until November.

The Citronella oil is fantastic, keeps every thing away, even Scottish Midges.
