Can I?

Hardest area to clean on the van is around the status and roof vents.

Struggle to reache from the ladder.

Is it OK to stand on roof of van (soft shoes of course) or do I need to use some type of crawling boards?

Or is it a big no, no!

It's not possible to give a definitive answer to your question because it depends on the construction of the roof which varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. When we bought our caravan, we were told that the roof will take the weight of an adult and I have often walked about on it barefoot to clean it without a problem, but I wouldn't be confident about doing the same elsewhere without checking with the dealer or manufacturer first.

That's being a bit too generous.
If the child had done a full days work cleaning out chimneys s/he would get dirty marks over the roof. Best leave the kid out in the rain for a couple of hours first to get rid of most of the grime. VERY VERY tounge in cheek

We all know that children aged 4 dressed in rags are very hard to come by in fact most of them are sent up chimneys and are covered in soot i think it is irresponsible of you to suggest such a child could help clean a caravan roof i feel it would have the opposite effect and poor mike's roof would only have changed colour from green to black.

this is a serious forum for serious people

PS i wouldnt stand on the roof of my van I use a fluffy dog on an extension pole

And their was Mike saying to the wife "just off to clean the van roof" When Mrs Mike comes outside to see what the comotion is Mike says "I thought you would like the cooker cleaned as well dear" two birds with one stone.

Minimise the risk by using a small child, preferably dressed in rags. About 4 years old should do the trick.
While I am not using the fire in the sitting room it seems a good time for the chimney to be swept, once your van roof is clean could I use the child? we will pay a fair wage including fresh fruit.

Hi Mike,

We don't have a dog and our once small children have grown too big so I use one of the extending brushes that almost all accessory shops sell.

I have never tried it myself, but I recall reading in one of the mags that some people use a small stepladder INSIDE the van and stick their heads out through the vents to clean the immediate roof area.

Cheers,

Mike A
