Can somebody tell me why you would want the two telescopic aerials on the back end of the aerial box extended and how, other than clamber up to the roof, do they extend?

thanks

Yes, they do extend outwards, but I have never used them as they are only for the radio - and I have a seperate ariel for that. I would think that if you did want to receive a better FM radio signal, and you used this ariel for the redio, the only sensible way is to leave them out all of the time, so long as they do not overhang the edge of the van. They make no diference to the TV signal.

They are for receiving some Tv channels in France and also to improve FM radio receptionbut if left out all the time in UK(or anywhere) you would not be able to twist the aerial sideways as they would hit the van roof and be damaged

It does say that in the instructions

We found that with the telescopics extended we could receive some French VHF channels that we could not receive with then retracted but I couldn't detect any other benefits

Thanks John

But just a question (tongue in cheek) how did you get on to the roof to extend them? Is a hook ladder required ?

I have found that extending them can improve the picture on TV. Not designed for that but seems to act as a reflecor when signal is weak.
