Status 530 telescopic aerials

Has anybody found a use for the telescopic aerials built into a Status 530 aerial?

Personally I think they are just shiny decorations, or maybe posh perches for the local bird population because mine seem to do very little else!

I reckon it must depend on where you are, we were away for our first trip in our van last week and had a perfect picture with this ariel, all freeview channels were brilliant

They are for use where VHF is stillused for TV broadcast, such as Eire and most of Europe.

Fully extended they may well also work with VHF/FM radio.

The lattest 530 fitted to my van has not got any of the telescopes.

Status have done away with them, so hopefully this will answer your question.

Dont tell everyone as watching people try to extend them and then go 'vertical' is great entertainment.

The instructions on the earlier model did say that they were for Europe as Woody has stated.

The instructions also stated that the aerial should point to the rear of the van when towing.

But who reads instructions!

Forgot,

The Red dot denoted the front of the aerial. It doesn't mean the dot has to point to the front of the van.

I read the advice on pointing the aerial to the rear when travelling too, strangely when I picked my van up after it's last service the workshop had turned it to point forward! Maybe they know something that the aerials manufacturers don't.

As for the telescopic bits, I didn't know tv was still broadcast on VHF so it all makes sense now!

I would advise you check what else the service workshop have got completely wrong!
