Staying Cool

I drive to south spain each year in June in a peugeot 306 1.9L diesel without air con. I dont need to tell you the discomfort from the heat. Is anyone able to tell me if there is an air con kit that can be got or better still is there any way a unit could be removed from a scraped car and fitted to my 'oven', to do it the cheap way. Your thoughts and hints please. Thanks

Dave, I have done the same kind of thing driving to Spain in a non aircon car, and I sympathise with you, but, retro fitting an air con unit from a donor car is a nightmare, and really not worth the time, trouble and cost, especially as in removal it means losing the refigerant and having to have it refilled when and if you manage to refit the system.

Realistically the only "sensible" option wouldbe to change cars to one with aircon fitted as standard, although this may not be practically possible.
