Sticky interior window trim

We recently bought a Knaus caravan and the front rubber window rims are very sticky and I can’t clean it off. I tried ringing a Knaus dealer for advice, but he was quite offhand and said it’s been left with the blinds down by the previous owner and affected by the heat.
I wondered if anyone else has come across this and knows how to clean it off please?
Thank you 😊

I think your dealer is correct in what they have said. A combination if UV and heat has affected the "rubber" I dont think there is any way of cleaning them.
Its a case of replacement, or put up with it, sorry!

We never left blinds down for two reasons. One it weakened the springs, and secondly the heat build up that takes place. Recommendations are that if blinds are going to be left closed then make sure that they aren't fully closed so that heat build up can be reduced.

As per an earlier post the only way around it is for the rubber to be replaced which can only be a good thing anyway as the rubber has probably perished.

A short term fix was to give them a dusting and wipe of talcum powder. It doesn’t “repair” the rubber but helps stop it being sticky.

When we got our caravan the previous owner had left the blinds down and we gave this a try from Halfords 3-IN- ONE Professional silicone spray lubricant and if doesn"t do it you might have to replace them
