storing caravan winter months

As I am worried about damp and mould, please can someone advise me when I put my caravan away for the winter, whether I should:

1. pull the fly nets down or leave them rolled up

2. should I leave the windows opened slightly on the latch

PS, I will be using my caravan cover.

I am grateful for any advice you can give.

Cheers

Dawn,

Best things to do are:

1. If possible, and you have room at home, take the soft furnishing home and store, if not, just stack them up in the middle of the van with a gap between each piece to allow air circulation.

2.Do not pull the blinds or flyscreens down, it will take the tension out of the springs and they will need retensioning when you come to use them next time.

Ventilation is provided through the roof vents all the time, even when closed, so do not leave windows open at all, even on night setting, there is no need. Ventilation is also achieved through the floor vents so make sure they are not obstructed.

With the use of a cover the fading of interior furnishings is removed, so it is ok to leave blinds etc open.

Leave the fridge door wedged open a little, along with the freezer door to stop mould, and leave all cupboards and locker doors open inside the van to allow full air circulation and constant temperature throughout the van.
