Strong ground pegs!

Im putting my van on seasonal pitch in March, and wanted to know if anyone has any ideas as to the best ground pegs for my awning. I need good strong ones as it can get a little windy where we are pitched, it's not a hardstanding pitch either, but a grass, and I already have plastic ones but find these not very good for a long stay, anyone knows where to get them, and what are the best ones. Are you sure they will let you leave the awning out on grass for the whole season?

I bought some very strong pegs very cheaply from the local CC centre at a rally.

Hi Julie,

How about those "curly wurly" dog tethers with a strong spring attached to the handle.

Fully screwed in I reckon the anchors could not be pulled out and with the addition of the spring to take out any shock the wind could give, the combination would be unbeatable.

The springs are available at most big diy supermarkets.

Last weekend at Braemar I noticed a lot of the seasonal vans had anchor pegs. One I noticed had the bottle type adjusters which connected to the chassi. I don't know if you can get them in caravan accessory shops, but they looked the business.

I made my own screw in pegs by using 8mm x 150mm coach screws from screwfix and screwing an m8 butterfly nut past the threads, they penetrate the hardest gravel pitches.

We have the screw type pegs on our seasonal site and they work a treat. As Del mentioned have a look at the screwfix site but don't forget the washers.
