I decided to bring my whale pump home for a good flush and clean, sterilize etc.
While cleaning the inch long little flap broke off(the bit that aids locking into place)
Is the pump likely to still stay located in the socket, without it?
Or is it a new pump time?
Anyone else had this problem.
Many thanks
Pierre.

The locking peg is usually required as the repeated pulses of pressure when the pump starts and runs can work the plug out of the fitting. But you may be lucky and it might just hold.

As the pump is suction, wait and see wait happens , maybe the Oring s will hold it in place, you can buy new Attachment heads though.

Actually it is not a suction pump. It is a pressure pump as the impeller is in the base of the pump and pushes the water up the hose into the van, so at the connection there is around 1.5Bar pressure which will force the connection away from the van if the locking lug is missing.

To be a suction pump, the pump would have to be inside the van, pulling the water from the aquaroll..

Cheers everyone..
I will play it safe and buy a new one..

Or why not test it before buying a new one to see if it works it's way out first ?

Buy a second one, use the original until it no longer stays in place,

...........if it is of any use to you I have for sale a little used Whale Watermaster high flow submersible pump together with a Whale IC control unit.
This retails as an upgrade kit for a Whale pressurised systems at £80 new.
I personally scrapped an older caravan so have many spare parts available.
