Hi. Has anyone else got a Sunncamp paramount 260 awning??

It is featured in Practical Caravan every month as number 3 in the top 5 awnings (see page 131 in July edition)

We first saw it assembled at Highbridge Caravans in Somerset and though how ideal it was especially with the front panel which could be zipped into one of 2 places giving you either more room inside or a mini porch. Well we bought one (and much cheaper than quoted in the magazine so shop around) and after a few trips got putting it up down to an art.

However as time has gone by, we have got more and more frustrated with it and the time and messing around it takes to insert and flex the carbon poles (one of which recently broke and got a spare section from towsure for only £2) and have got to the point where it takes so long messing around. On our last trip we assisted some first time caravanners with their full size awning and it went up faster than our paramount. So much so we are looking like getting rid of it and buying a full size awning instead for the time it takes.

Has anyone else experienced frustrations with this awning or is it just us?

Having tried a couple of lightweight awnings I too gave up with the fiddling about. A full awning I find is always easier to put up than a porch. We do use a small porch for wellies and leads at weekends with an alloy frame and a full 1050 awning for any longer, this also has an alloy frame. Initially thought the lightweight would be quicker and easier but at least both we easy to sell. Also found that in the slightest breeze the new awnings are much easier to put up than the lightweight!!
